American Apparel Disco Pants: Finally In Love

Ok, story time kids! So I'm sure all of you have heard by now about the American Apparel disco pants. They are the clothing item sweeping the internet and causing a craze for anything shiny and high-waisted. I was intrigued by the pants, but I didn't know if they would look good on my body type, since I'm more of a curvier girl compared to the stick-think american apparel models.

So one day, me and my familly were in nyc, and I happened to come accross the american apparel warehouse sale going on. When I walked in, I knew I had to find a pair of disco pants. After much searching, I found a select few of them. They only had gold in the size that I thought would fit (my first choice was black). I tried them on and they fit... but they didn't really have that classic "disco pants look" that I was hoping for. They were kind of baggy in the legs and didn't really suck my tummy in all the way. They still looked like cool golden pants, and I thought the next size down wouldn't fit. They were only $40 and I felt rushed because we wanted to stop by other stores, so I just got them.

Fast forward to this summer. I had worn my disco pants several times to school and I liked them, but I just wasn't in love with them. As the day wore on, they would get baggy around the waist too and not look very flattering. Then one day I was reading a review on the pants on another blog, and they suggested sizing down in disco pants, because they do stretch  even though they may seem like a struggle to get on at first. EUREKA! I realized that I bought the next size too big. So I had some money from working and I decided to order the disco pants in black, like I had originally wanted, but in one size down. Well they came today, and OMG. I am in love. Finally, they suck me in and give me that 70's high-waisted vibe! They're even tighter around the legs and ankles, so they look even better in shoes! Here are some pictures!

here they are with converse...
...and with docs

They were a bit of a struggle to get on, but once I finally got them zipped up, they fit like a glove! I'm sure they'll look even better with my litas or foxy's to compliment the 70's vibe. These pants were really expensive, but they're totally worth it. People call them glorified leggings, but I think they're much thicker than leggings and such good quality. I saw a couple of dupes of the disco pants from this uk brand called glamorous here. They are a lot cheaper than the AA disco pants, but I've seen them on girls, and they look like very thin material, almost more like a literal lycra leggings.

Well guys, all in all, I would highly recommend the American Apparel disco pants, and I would DEFINITELY reccommend sizing down. See you gusy soon!

Look Who's a Prepster Now

Hey guys, first off I want to apologize for my bra strap showing in these pictures! I did not know it had made its appearance until I looked at the pictures up close on my computer. ugh! Well anyway here's my outfit...

shirt: forever21
pants: american apparel
shoes: target

My style is very eclectic. Sometimes I like to dress really bohemian, sometimes really grungey, but today, I went for more of a preppy look. I kinda have a love-hate relationship with all most of these pieces. I love the style of this shirt; I've always wanted a cold-shoulder style shirt, but this one from forever21 just isn't that great of quality. The button holes are fraying, which make unbuttoning the shirt unnecesarily difficult. Also, you obviously have the annoyance of your bra straps working their way down every once in a while. The pants I got from an american apparel warehouse sale. They're actually disco pants, but they don't really fit like they should. They're kinda too baggy. I've ordered a pair of black ones from aa online in a size smaller that these, so hopefully they look more like the classic disco pants. Thse shoes, however, I'm totally in love with. I got them from target for only $9!! They're almost an identical knock-off of a dolce vita loafer, but for about $70 less!!

My summer is rapidly coming to a close, and I start school soon. I'm going to be a senior this year!! I can't believe it. It feels like just yesterday I was a freshman in highschool. I'm excited but nervous at the same time. Honestly, I just want to get highschool over with and move away to college already! I'm so sick of this small town.

Well, I'll keep you all posted on my first days of school and my outfits (which should get more interesting when school starts). Until next time!

Deuces,
Carly <3
P.S.
Have any of you ever ordered anything from romwe.com before? I had ordered a couple pairs of leggings a couple of weeks ago from them and they still haven't arrived yet. Is their shipping usually this slow? Customer service isn't very helpful and when I track my package, all it says ist that it has been shipped. I'm afraid I might have been duped :(

I wanna be your lover baby

Hey guys! You all know that I'm a self-confessed shoe addict, so I thought it would be interesting to show you the shoes that I'm currently drooling over. Now these shoes may seem absolutely CRAY some some of you, but that's just the way I like my footwear ;)

1. UNIF Hellbound
source: solestruck.com
Uhmmmm, drool? Yes these boots are litas on acid. Yes they are gothic and chunky and so ugly they're cute. That's why I love them so much. They are just the most epic shoe I've ever seen. I've heard that they are insanely comfortable (much like the litas), and they come in a huge range of colors including hot pink, turquoise, and crimson, but I think these leopard print ones are neutral enough to pair with all kinds of outfits. These shoes are also insanely expensive (around $250! ouch!) but I'm thinking about asking for them for christmas as my one big present. I know many of you probably think they're ugly as sin, but I don't care. I'm obsesssed!

2. Jeffrey Campbell Night Walk
source: solestruck.com
Speaking of crazy.... Yeah these are probably the weirdest/ awesomest(is that even a word) shoes I've ever seen! Umm... they have no heel, that's probably the most obvious thing about them. A shoe with no heels?? No way! Yes way! Through a feat of engineering, jeffrey campbell has some how made a shoe without a heel that's actually possible, dare I say COMFORTABLE, which isn't surprising for jeffrey campbell. I especially love this lavender suede color, but they come in lots of other colors/fabrics. Ok confession time. I'm actually thinking about getting these. I have the money from working all summer, and I feel like I deserve to splurge on myself. I know they look totally impractical, but I would find some way to rock these, even at school, because yah know, YOLO! If I get them, I'll be sure to do an unboxing of some sort for you guys!

Ok guys, those are the shoes that I'm currently seriously lusting over, but I'm sure there'll be more soon! Until next time,

My Shoe Collection

Although I love fashion as a whole, shoes are my biggest weakness. I mean a BIG weakness. Every time I see a crazy beautiful shoe, my heart starts racing, I get sweaty palms. I act like a giddy school girl with a huge crush on a boy, except that boy's name is Mr. Shoe. So I thought I would share with you some of my favorite shoes. I have way more shoes than I'm about to show you, but I didn't think showing you my boring flats and converse would be too interesting. So here we go!

1. Forever 21 maroon suede wedge booties
These shoes are my newest addition to my collection. I just think they are simple and gorgeous, not to mention a devine color as well. I normally don't like buying shoes at forever 21 because I'll constantly see myself coming and going, but these were such a staple piece, I had to get them. They were also a steal at only $23!

2. Jeffrey Campbell Foxy in neon colorblock
These shoes, oh these shoes. They're a freaking work of art, am I right? I'm just crazy over the 70's silhouette of them combined with the modern neon colorblocking. Even though neon is considered a trend, these puppies will be in my wardrobe forevs!! They add a loud pop of color to any outfit.

3. Flatform Sandals
I first saw these flatforms on Stephanie from The Fashion Citizen (check them out on youtube, they're amazing!). I fell in love with their simplicity. Even though these are a flat shoe, they're actually kind of hard to walk in, because it feels like you're walking on stilts in them and it's very easy to twist your ankle if you step down wrong or make a sharp turn around a corner. I got these from a little known website called loveculture.com

4. Urban Outfitters red wedges
These red wedges are such a staple in my wardrobe. They go with everything, despite their ruby red color (which I love, btw).

5. Jeffrey Campbell Litas
Ah the Jeffrey Campbell Lita. Yes, they live up to all of the hype, and they're worth the somewhat hefty price tag. They are, and always will be, my favorite pair of shoes of all time.

6. Target ankle booties
I scored these guys at Target a while back for only 12 bucks. They're comfortable and go with anything.

7. H&M leopard wedges

My first shoe purchase from H&M. I got them because I thought they were unique and leopard print is actually a really good neutral. I paid $40 for them, which is pretty pricey, and the quality isn't great, but I like them anyway.

8. T.U.K. creepers
I jumped on the creeper bandwagon and got these. I specifically got these, because I like the purple pyramid print. They're surprisingly versitile. I <3 them!

9. Minnetonka moccasin booties
Living in the northeast, moccasins are pratically required attire. These are soooo comfy and stylish!

10. Urban Outfitters wedge booties
I bought these beautiful wedges for only $10 on uo's website. Although they are pretty, they're kinda hard to walk in, I don't really know why.

11. Doc Martens

The classic docs. Every fashion-savy person should have a pair. Omg, I can't tell you hw much I love these shoes. They just add a little something to every outfit you pair them with. Ugh, I just love them. I recently put these rainbow laces in them, and I think my coolness factor was raised significantly because of it.

Well, I hope you enjoyed my little collection. I'm not over exaggerating when I say these shoes are my children! I better have a daughter or a gay son with really small feet someday that I can pass them on to! I'm thinking about making a shoe "wishlist" next. What do yo guys think?
Until next time!

My Idea of Casual

Hello All!
Guess what!!! I got a camera remote!!!! Now I can take all the outfit shots I want without having to run back and forth after each shot to put the self-timer back on and focus. It makes the life of a fashion blogger much easier. I have to admit that I wore this outfit sans jacket, shoes, and bag when I went to hang out with my friends, but it's summer and I can't be bothered. Summer makes me dress like a bum. This is the type of outfit that I would wear to school, however, and it is quite a bit more casual than some of my other school outfits at that. Let's just say the hallway is my runway!

shirt-target
jacket-old navy
leggings-h&m
bag-unknown
ear cuff-uo
shoes-jeffrey campbell

The stars of this outfit definitely are my shoes. Aren't they just gorgeous?? They are my favorite two colors mixed together. For anyone wondering, they are my second pair of jc's and were a present for my 18th birthday.
On another note, I've been loving this new song from a little known band called Marina and the Diamonds. It's just so catchy, and the lead singer is interesting to look at!

Well that's all for now! Until next time!

Ear Swag

Hey Guys!
I just wanted to share with you some awesome ear cuffs that I recently purchased from Urban Outfitters. I've been wanting to try out ear cuffs for a while, but never got around to buying one. Senior portraits are coming up soon for my school, so I thought maybe I would order a few and try them out and possibly wear one in my portrait.

So here's the first...

I got this cuff on sale for $9.  I love it, but my mom thinks its a little too distracting for a picture that's supposed to be focused on my face. I'm definitely going to keep it for everyday wear.

And here's the second cuff...

This cuff was a little steep at $18, but it's so dainty and elegant, so I guess it's worth the money. Because it is so elegant, yet understated I think this will be the one I'll wear in my portrait.

What do you guys think? Do you like the ear cuff trend? Do you think I picked the right cuff for my senior portrait? Well, until next time!

Deuces,
Carly <3
