Baby's On Fire

I thought I would let you all in on where I got my blog's name from...

I stumbled across this video for Die Anwoord's single Baby's On Fire one day while surfing the interwebs. I had never heard of this group or this song before, but I was entranced by the video's styling and the overall bad-assery of Die Antwoord and this song.
First of all, can we talk about the group's female lead, Yolandi Visser?!? She has this thing that makes me scared and jealous of her all at the same time. She is a strong female and takes no shit from anyone. On top of that, she raps in this awesome bird-like voice that makes the english lyrics almost unintelligible. (The group is from South Africa and also often rap in Afrikaans). Her hair alone is a stand-out character. It's a mullet on acid, a neo-mullet if you will. Even though most people would think of it as an abomination to hair styling, I think it's rad and suits her perfectly!
Yolandi's counterpart, Ninja adds the perfect accent to her unusual rapping, while playing the bad-guy older brother role. There's something about his pot leaf print accessories and gross teeth that make him irresistible to me-go figure.
The second thing I love is the pastely, girly styling of the video punctuated by scandalous tidbits, like pornographic wall art, constant cussing, and yolandi's less than lady-like clothing (which I would totally love to replicate).
As you can tell from above, I'm obessed with this song/ group because it embodies everything I love: quirkness, bad assery, a little dirtiness mixed in, but when combined all together, a feast for your senses. Hence why I wish to think I'm on fire as well. Watch this video, and check out die antwoord! Until next time.
Deuces,
Carly <3
p.s. I'll try to start doing outfit posts once I get a remote for my camera so I don't have to deal with the dreaded self-timer!
