Ear Swag

Hey Guys!
I just wanted to share with you some awesome ear cuffs that I recently purchased from Urban Outfitters. I've been wanting to try out ear cuffs for a while, but never got around to buying one. Senior portraits are coming up soon for my school, so I thought maybe I would order a few and try them out and possibly wear one in my portrait.

So here's the first...

I got this cuff on sale for $9.  I love it, but my mom thinks its a little too distracting for a picture that's supposed to be focused on my face. I'm definitely going to keep it for everyday wear.

And here's the second cuff...

This cuff was a little steep at $18, but it's so dainty and elegant, so I guess it's worth the money. Because it is so elegant, yet understated I think this will be the one I'll wear in my portrait.

What do you guys think? Do you like the ear cuff trend? Do you think I picked the right cuff for my senior portrait? Well, until next time!

An Impromptu Outfit Post

Hey guys! Look what I found! Some mad old/ crappy outfit photos I took with my ipod! I thought this would suffice until my camera remote comes and I can take some REAL outfit photos.

shirt: diy
leggings: charlotte russe
head scarf: vintage
shoes: jeffrey campbell litas

Please excuse these jank mirror photos and my horrible face! Oh how foolish I was. No matter how bad these photos are, however, I am wearing some of my favorite pieces! I adore this galaxy cross shirt I made. I saw a similar one on Urban Outfitters for $40. This is a cheaper alternative. And, my beloved jeffrey campbell litas. Yes, I, along with every other fashion blogger out there has a pair, but OMG guys these shoes are amaze-balls! They started my little(huge) jeffrey campbell obsession, but I shall talk about that in another post. I saved up FOREVER to buy them, and they are totally worth every penny. This outfit makes me look like a hipster, but I don't care. I AM a hipster, I got no shame!
So I'm still trying to figure out this whole blogging thing. I was going to do a post about my favorite blogs, but I got frustrated trying to put in pictures from the internet and format the whole thing, so if you have any tips, they would be greatly appreciated.
Well, until next time!

Baby's On Fire

I thought I would let you all in on where I got my blog's name from...

I stumbled across this video for Die Anwoord's single Baby's On Fire one day while surfing the interwebs. I had never heard of this group or this song before, but I was entranced by the video's styling and the overall bad-assery of Die Antwoord and this song.
First of all, can we talk about the group's female lead, Yolandi Visser?!? She has this thing that makes me scared and jealous of her all at the same time. She is a strong female and takes no shit from anyone. On top of that, she raps in this awesome bird-like voice that makes the english lyrics almost unintelligible. (The group is from South Africa and also often rap in Afrikaans). Her hair alone is a stand-out character. It's a mullet on acid, a neo-mullet if you will. Even though most people would think of it as an abomination to hair styling, I think it's rad and suits her perfectly!
Yolandi's counterpart, Ninja adds the perfect accent to her unusual rapping, while playing the bad-guy older brother role. There's something about his pot leaf print accessories and gross teeth that make him irresistible to me-go figure.
The second thing I love is the pastely, girly styling of the video punctuated by scandalous tidbits, like pornographic wall art, constant cussing, and yolandi's less than lady-like clothing (which I would totally love to replicate).
As you can tell from above, I'm obessed with this song/ group because it embodies everything I love: quirkness, bad assery, a little dirtiness mixed in, but when combined all together, a feast for your senses. Hence why I wish to think I'm on fire as well. Watch this video, and check out die antwoord! Until next time.
Deuces,
Carly <3
p.s. I'll try to start doing outfit posts once I get a remote for my camera so I don't have to deal with the dreaded self-timer!

I Just Came to Say Hello

Where to begin? I will start by listing some facts about myself:
1. My name is Carly
2. I'm 18 years old
3. I will be a senior in highschool this fall (no, I did not fail a grade)
4. I'm highly addicted to all things fashion related
5. I aspire to become an art teacher one day
6. I also want to work at an art museum or for a fashion magazine
7. Yes I'm having a hard time choosing a path in life
8. I have a song that pops in my head for almost every occasion (I'm a human juke box, if you will)
9. I'm very eccentric, so living in a small town in Upstate New York causes me to stick out like a sore thumb.
10. I've started many blogs like this before only to delete them literally 5 minutes after their creation.

Well there you have it folks. Hopefully this time, it'll stick. I'm hoping this will be the place where I can record my fashion, art, and music related ramblings along with any other gems that pop in my head. So for now, I leave you with a picture of me acting a fool at junior prom!

deuces,
Carly

p.s. Since I always have a song for every occasion...
